I was asked by the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies at the University of Technology, Jamaica to create a flyer for their World Poetry Day celebration.
The flyer is a silhouette of a Rastafarian man, a common feature of many Jamaican poets. The flag uses a combination of the colours from Jamaican and Ethiopian flags which highlights the close connection between Jamaica and the African nation.
The words are decorated across the silhouette indicating how the thoughts of a poet are formed. The words come from the brain and the heart (in red) and are relayed to the audience as deep, powerful words emphasised by the larger text.
